Mark your calendars to see ‘Quilts Along Forist Lane’ – Merced County Times
Members of the Gateway Quilters’ Guild are busy putting the finishing touches on their quilts which will be on display at the ‘Quilts Along Forist Lane’ event.
This event takes place on October 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Quilts will be hung from majestic trees, under the eaves of houses, and scattered on the lawns along the way.
This event featured artists like Judith Dake and Priscilla Hise. They meet weekly to quilt and have a collection of quilts to share. The artists and their quilts will be displayed in a house on Forist Lane. The two artists will be on hand to share their quilting journey over the years.
“Quilts Along Forist Lane” is the guild’s main fundraiser. Recipes are used by guest speakers with new teaching techniques at some of the meetings held on the third Wednesday of each month (except November and December). We also use the funds to help with our community service as we provide quilts to Child Protective Services, Nursing Homes, Veterans, Guardian Scholars, to name a few. Each year, approximately 250 quilts are distributed.
In addition, during this event, vendors will sell their products. This will be a good time to start your Christmas shopping.
Entrance is at Forist Lane and Wyoming Drive. Forist Lane is off North Bear Creek Drive between G Street and McKee Avenue. For your convenience, we provide golf carts to take you to and from the show. The cost for this event is $10 and includes a bottle of water and a light refreshment. Members sell tickets before the show, or you can buy your ticket at the entrance. So mark your calendar for a hectic day. In case of rain, we will postpone the event to the following Saturday.
