Update Your Calendars: Scheduled Islanders have been reworked, once again

NHL schedule officials have been working overtime lately as they try to make sure the postponed game backlog ends up on the league’s 82-game schedule. The New York Islanders are counting for a number of those late games.

Two games in late November, four in late December and more recently four upcoming dates of a road trip in Western Canada (plus a stop in Seattle) have been postponed. That’s ten games to catch up. In fact, it is nine o’clock. A November game, a date against the Rangers, was already postponed to St. Patrick’s Day (March 17, 2022),

Today, one of the nine postponed games has been rescheduled and three other games have been moved.

Tuesday the Islanders announced this previously postponed game, a date against the Flyers (in Philly) from the end of November has been postponed to January 18 at 7:00 p.m.

But the Isles already had a match scheduled on that date. The Blue Jackets were scheduled to play at UBS Arena on that date. This match has been postponed. So if you keep track of how many games still need to be dialed, we’re back to nine.

Also today, the Islanders announced that they have traded home dates with the Leafs. The Isles were scheduled to play in Toronto later this month (January 22) while the Leafs were to play Long Island in mid-April (April 17). These two games have been switched.

The Isles will host the Leafs at UBS Arena on Jan. 22 at 7 p.m., while the Isles will head north of the border on April 17. Once again, the puck will be handed over at 7 p.m. for this game.

So in summary:

JNI against PH (November 30): Postponed to January 18 at 7 p.m.
NYI vs CBJ (January 18): Postponed
JNI @ TOR (January 22): Postponed to April 17 at 7 p.m.
NYI vs. TOR (April 17): Rescheduled for January 22 at 7 p.m.
